Job Summary: Responsible for planning, budgeting/forecasting, and oversight of trucking operations including safety, compliance, quality control and development of workflow improvement processes. Manages internal drivers/fleet and trucking operations by working closely with internal/external customers, sales, dispatch, operations personnel, leadership, and vendors/suppliers. Oversees and coordinates administrative operations and develops workflow process improvements while ensuring continuity between manufacturing, construction, sales, trucking, safety, environmental, regulatory requirements, and data integrity. The goal will be to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain while minimizing costs, maximizing profitability and meeting customer expectations. Main Responsibilities: Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams. Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies. Prepare and maintain budgets and financial data related to trucking operations; adjust strategies to maintain strong financial performance. Coordinate with lead truck drivers to schedule maintenance/repairs on Simon units and make recommendations regarding equipment replacement or disposal. Effectively manage the work environment and logistics, and administrative staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met. Establish and maintain relationships with lease-haulers and engage as needed to supplement material delivery requirements. Keep track of delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency; maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements. Evaluate and select appropriate transportation methods, carriers, and routes to optimize delivery efficiency. Maintain effective relationships with internal drivers, customers, suppliers, and Company business groups. Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Dispatch internal/external units and maintain accurate records and documentation of all logistics activities including shipment schedules and transportation costs through FleetWatcher. Use sales tools (i.e., zone maps, pricing processes) and coordinate with sales and customer service personnel. Oversee customer service support with customer communication, order processing, customer delivery, and system support. Implement standard processes and automation solutions to optimize administrative functions to effectively support internal projects, external sales, and supply contracts. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics operations. Work with A/P Hauler Administrator to ensure accurate invoicing and payments. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and standard processes in logistics management. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply-Chain Management, Logistics or related field a plus. Valid driver's license and clean driving history required; Class A CDL with endorsements preferred. Skills: 3-5 years of experience in commercial trucking operations, logistics, construction, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 3 years of experience working in a supervisory capacity. Ability to effectively lead and develop employees. Ability to work independently, adapt to changing situations, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment. Prior experience working with financial reports and developing/managing an operational budget. Prior experience using project planning, dispatch, and/or logistics software. Proficiency in use of computers including MS Office, database, project planning, dispatch, and/or logistics software. Basic knowledge of DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Physical Requirements: Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently required to sit and use a computer for long periods. Occasional work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery. Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including equipment and machinery, dust and loud noise, and weather. Some travel may be required to attend meetings/training, and/or visit work sites. Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device.
